Turkish FM: Israel must take steps to show it wants peace
By The Associated Press

Turkey's foreign minister said Wednesday that Israel must take steps to show that it wants a resolution of the Arab-Israeli conflict.

Ahmet Davutoglu also said Palestinian factions must forge unity for a breakthrough in Middle East peace talks.

Davutoglu was speaking during a news conference with visiting Jordanian Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh on Wednesday.

Davutoglu said the time had come for Israel to openly display its will for peace if it has it. He did not elaborate.

Turkey maintains good relations with Arab nations as well as Israel. In recent years, it sought to play a more active role in the Middle East. It has mediated several rounds of now stalled indirect peace talks between Syria and Israel.
